Collegiate students gave their last "drink plenty of clean water daily" pitch for ecoFiltro this morning at a school a mile away from Antigua.
After their second presentation, the PE Coach invited us to play a soccer match with the school kids.
Our Titans fought hard to maintain their dignity with a final score of 5-1.. we were happy that Collegiate score 1 goal!!!
Today was a lot of fun. I am sad that it was our last presentation; I had a great time going to different schools and presenting and interacting with them. Today's group was better than yesturday's because they listened much better and were more restful. We presented twice because there was not enough room for all of the kids to fit in the courtyard. The second group was in sixth grade. After we presented to the second group, they wanted to play an 11 vs. 11 soccer game. I had a ton of fun. We all did a great job exept at half time the score was 1-5 with us trailing by four.. Good thing we didn't have time to stay and play the second game! We also had another Salsa lessons today which was fun.
ReplyDeleteToday we visited our last and final school to do our presentations. Today was different because these kids were much older around 11 or 12 years old. It was a tougher crowd to get them as engaged as the preschoolers or the elementary kids but we got them to laugh a bit and it all worked out very well. After our presentations, we played an 11 on 11 full court soccer game with them and they ended up killing us 5 to 1! They were so good! I ended up having a fun time even though they made me fall about ten times and the best part was was that they would laugh at us when we fell. Overall, I had a fantastic time and my soccer skills have improved quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteToday we walked to a nearby school in Antigua. A promised 10 minute walk turned into a 30 minute hike. We gave teo presentations at the school. Our first one went much better because the kids were much younger and cared a bit more. After the presentations we played soccer with the kids. Our team got crushed 5-1 and coach Ensenat was not happy with our performance and lack of passing skill. After our crushing defeat I attended a chocolate making class and was basically given my presentation.
ReplyDeleteHas Brad Davies seen all of this Collegiate soccer skill? He may have a few new recruits!
